After witnessing a terrifying crash on the A27 which wrecked two cars, Janice Dunlop offered two shaken people the shelter of her own vehicle.
But her car soon met a similar fate, when the elderly woman and her son developed neck pains.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue cut the roof off Mrs Dunlop’s car so the pair could be treated without risk of further injury.
No one was badly hurt in Sunday’s accident, which left the A27 closed both ways at Crossbush Roundabout road for nearly nine hours.
The full story and an interview with Mrs Dunlop will be in the Observer on Thursday, January 10.
