Mother’s Day at Fishbourne Roman Palace

FISHBOURNE Roman Palace has got some treats on offer this Mother’s Day (March 10).

Visitors to the Palace will be able to join in with a variety of activities, including designing mosaic Mother’s Day cards, playing Roman games and making a lavender bag to take away.

The Roman gardens will be open and mums can enjoy a free of charge hot drink in the café.

“Celebrating Mother’s Day may have its origins in the Roman festival of Matronalia, a festival in honour of Juno Lucina, the goddess of motherhood,” said Betina Blake, from the palace.

“On the day, which fell at the beginning of March, women traditionally received gifts from their family.”

Anyone who would like more information can visit sussexpast.co.uk or follow the palace on Twitter at .
