Call for cops on beat

YOUR article on police cuts misses the point in stating the cuts mean fewer policemen on the streets. What it should stress is, fewer policemen in the office.

And that is what the public want. Police only spend 14 per cent of their time seeing what is going on in the real world.

On the Sussex border, gangs of up to 30 youths congregate at night on Hayling Island. The island has no visible police after 11pm. That is when the youths get mobile. They sleep in the morning while others are at school or working!

We must not let this be imported to Chichester.
