Clear the way for local control

ERIC Pickles announced on February 14 the government’s impending revocation of the South East Plan in June.

That was part of the coalition agreement, and should have been carried out years ago.

It clears the way for local control over housing and planning, and avoiding the previous top-down government demands.

Even before June, the announcement becomes a significant material consideration.

That will help our district councillors, in respect of recent planning applications and appeals, where they have been threatened with having to pay costs for disagreeing with their planning officers.
