LETTER: Battle to keep Oving lights

Tangmere Parish Council would like to thank the elected members of Chichester District Council for supporting the planning application submitted by Oving Parish Council to retain the Oving lights.

Tangmere Parish council will be writing to Chichester MP Andrew Tyrie, requesting him to lobby the Secretary of State for Transport Chris Grayling asking him to support the elected local authority’s decision and the wishes of the many residents who would be adversely affected by the closure of the lights.

We hope that Chris Grayling will support the views of the local people and not side with the anonymous Highways England.

Tangmere Parish Council would like to congratulate Oving Parish Council for their persistance and tenacity over the past five years in trying to overturn the extraordinary decision made by Highways England to close the Oving lights. We wish them every success in what, we hope, will be the final stage of this long running battle.

Cllr Kate Beach
