A BEAUTIFUL Sunday morning dawned.
Armed with my Selsey Gardens Open Day guide and map (all 17 of them)
I hopped on my bike and set off.
Looking and searching for each garden, identified by a cheerfully-waving blue flag, was an adventure in itself.
My map-reading skills went to pot as I met other happy garden hunters excitedly looking for garden three, eight or 12.
We exchanged views and helped each other on to the next little gem.
Tea and homemade cakes were served by enthusiastic owners happy to share with us their much-loved space.
Forget the infamous Chelsea Flower Show, expensive, crowded, the inevitable pushing and shoving.
Believe me, the Selsey experience was so much more joyful.
This is English gardens at their best.
So Alan T and Monty Don, do yourselves a favour. skip Chelsea and come to Selsey – they really know how to put on a show.
