I followed with interest the comments made by Richard Childs, president of the Chichester Society, regarding the development of the Chichester local plan.
The desire for new housing to be built on brownfield sites is to be lauded, but then he suggests that areas of Shopwyke Lakes, Tangmere and Southbourne should be targeted.
Having followed the neighbourhood plan process very closely in Southbourne, I am uncertain where the brownfield sites capable of taking the 300 houses to be built in that area are.
Surely Mr Childs cannot be suggesting that anywhere but Chichester is the proper way to progress. A hint of nimbyism, perhaps?
