I was so pleased with the reaction to the two minutes’ silence in Oaklands Park.
At 11am dog walkers stopped walking.
The archery club stopped shooting.
The rugby club stopped playing rugby.
A family trying to launch a kite stopped trying to launch a kite.
All was silent, reflective and respectful.
Except at the football club.
They continued their usual Sunday routine of continually shouting every four-letter word imaginable as loudly as possible.
Every syllable clearly audible throughout the park.
Disappointing but not surprising.
