Responsible pedestrians

Your article (Observer, January 17) states in 11 years three people have died on Fishbourne Road East railway level crossing – two of which were recorded as suicides.

Considering the countless number of people who have crossed during the same period without being killed shows that the current visible and audible alarms are sufficient for responsible pedestrians.

Anybody intent on committing suicide by railway train will do so regardless of this crossing being replaced.
