As a sometime reader of Keith Newbery’s column, I never cease to be impressed by his consistency in denigrating all things left of his perception of the centre.
I think it important to register there are some people – even a few in Chichester – who believe some socialist initiatives have been positive for our society’s development, and our economy has frequently benefited from the vitality that immigrant populations have provided us.
In his May 19 article, Keith shared the amusement he found in Andrew Rawnsley’s new book on socialist mishaps, and observed: “Rawnsley is a man with the ability to convert his canny observations into compelling prose.”
