Traffic lights needed

BECAUSE of roadworks this past week, there have been traffic lights on the Tangmere Road adjacent to the junction with Drayton Lane.

Regular users will know this is a notoriously-difficult junction from which to exit and is the site of numerous accidents because of the speed of the approaching traffic and the poor lines of sight.

The latter is a problem much exacerbated by cars parked on the verge of nearby properties.

Although motorists might consider another set of traffic lights an annoyance, while the roadworks were on-going it was possible to make a safe exit from Drayton Lane.

I would suggest the highways authority note this fact and consider a permanent installation – the cost could be offset against that of the emergency vehicles which would no longer be called out to accidents on the corner.
