The best of new cinema in Australia is heading for the Chichester Cinema at New Park.
Following a record-breaking 14th year at the Barbican, the London Australian Film Festival 2008 goes on tour during June and July across the UK.

A selection of films from the festival will visit the Chichester Cinema at New Park from July 19-31, a
nd then continue to its final venue, the Cornerhouse Manchester.

Spokeswoman Laura Bushell said: "A showcase for the latest Australian film-making, the London Australian Film Festival 2008 on Tour comprises feature film and documentary highlights from this year's festival including the Audience Choice Award-winning comedy All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane; Aussie actor Richard Roxburgh's directorial debut Romulus, My Father; the most commercially-successful documentary ever released in Australia, Bra Boys; and Oscar-winning cartoonist Bruce Petty's inventive part-animated documentary Global Haywire.
Among the highlights will be:

Romulus, My Father. Set in the dramatic landscape of rural Victoria and based on the traumatic childhood memoirs of philosopher Raimond Gaita, Romulus, My Father is a story of family love and loss via the post-war immigrant experience.

All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane. Two years after graduating, Anthea (Charlotte Gregg) is suffering a crisis of confidence as all of her friends couple up or go travelling overseas whilst she remains single and in dire need of a career kick start. Louise Alston's romantic comedy stars some of Australia's hottest young acting talent and great music from the Brisbane indie scene.

Cross Life . With a script gleaned from her previous documentary, director Claire McCarthy's Cross Life is a portrait of life in Sydney's infamous and culturally diverse inner city red-light district, King's Cross.

Noise. On a Melbourne suburban train, a young woman sits with headphones blaring, oblivious to a terrible crime being committed in her carriage. Meanwhile, a young cop who mans a mobile incident centre, is pitched into the chaos of the crime while fighting his own battle with chronic tinnitus.

The Chichester programme is: Bra Boys, July 19; Forbidden Lie$, July 20; Noise, July 21; Romulus My Father, July 26; Global Haywire, July 27; All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane, July 28; Cross Life, July 30; and September, July 31.
