Bognor elected to bat, but they lost Tom La Foret and Jim Fallick early to the excellent bowling of Taraia Robin (4-44).

Opener Max Ashmore and Phil Ball built a brilliant partnership of 125.

Ashmore batted with maturity to conquer hostile bowling from Robin and support Ball, who timed his innings beautifully.

When Ashmore was run out for 37, Liam Geoghegan joined Ball and kept the runs flowing until Ball fell for 85.

Late hitting from Dammika Perera (24*) and Glenn West and loose bowling and fielding meant the home team amassed 52 extras to reach 221 for six.

In reply on a fast-scoring ground, the home side looked to be positive, but came unstuck against Bognor's new-ball partnership as Perera and Richie Hancocks ripped through the top order, leaving them reeling at 17 for four.

John Burroughs and Lowther began to repair the early damage, taking the score to 77 before Jim Lee (2-21) removed both in successive deliveries.

Bognor had the match in their grasp and Perera (4-39) mopped up the tail, with Ball (1-8) taking the penultimate wicket.

It was a well-deserved win for Bognor, who have improved dramatically in half a season.

Findon v Middleton

Mark Carroll led Middleton to victory with his first senior five-wicket haul.

The promising young Australian showed great control in blustery conditions at the Long Furlong ground.

Having won the toss for the first time in six weeks, Middleton captain Matt Warren elected to bowl and watched Findon start like his side have done in recent weeks – losing a flurry of wickets.

First to go was Jack Metters, who got an excellent yorker from Carroll.

In the next over, Bran Hanley nipped one back up the hill to remove Stephens for a duck, and when Carroll had Vickerstaff caught by Steve Collins, Findon were eight for three.

Toby Kingsbury showed he hadn't lost any of his form despite barely playing this year. Findon needed his experience, and with Carroll having Jordan caught behind it was left to him to lead the resistance.

He did find support in the middle order, but Hanley was in his own rich vein of form and he bowled him for 42.

Hanley picked up two more wickets to take his total for the season to 33, and Carroll came back to end the resistance of John Rogers and Steve Gettings.

With the bat, Ben Hansford has been promising good things and this was his day to deliver. Some loose early balls gave him his chance, and he wasn't in the mood to miss out.

Micky Demetriou was punished before Mark Stewart bowled Alex Price around his legs.

Steve Collins, making his return after useful runs in the seconds, joined Hansford and the pair took the score to 86 before Collins was removed by Vickerstaff.

Hansford went for an excellent 65 and while Middleton lost a couple of late wickets in Hoare and Spedding, they cruised to their target of 131 with 16 overs to go.
