Michael Birmingham has issued a heartfelt goodbye - and thank-you to Bognor fans but has told them: I might be back one day.
The departed Rocks boss went on to the Green Army's messageboard to tell supporters how hard it had been to leave the club.

He wrote: "Let's put it this way, having to tell everyone I was leaving the club on Tuesday was the hardest thing I have ev
er had to do in my short life.

"I want to thank everyone for their support, I have left with the best memories i could ever have.

"Bognor Regis Town has been part of my life for 14 years, and will continue to be in my life. I am extremely proud of wearing the green and white shirt for many years, including being captain of two promotions, and manager of the great escape.
"Yes, there were tears shared between Jack and myself. If he could have stopped me leaving he would have, trust me, I have learnt so much off the man.

"It was he who got me from Dorchester Town in 1994 after I had turned him down.

"Believe me there have been times when I have driven him mad with my ways, but he has always been there for me, and always will be.

"There is a bit in the paper with Jack saying I hope I didn't regret leaving Bognor for Aldershot. How can I ever regret my decision in staying with the club I have loved for so long?

"I can promise one thing - I will never ever play another competitive match for another club as long as I live, cos I only wear the green and white shirt, and I would never betray the club or you fans.

"I said I will finish my playing days at the club I love, and I have.

"I would love to finish my football days at the club i love, and, who knows, that may happen. Once again thank you for all the fantastic memories I go away with, GREEN ARMY."

Meanwhile, it appears defenders Chris Breach and Seb Wallis-Tayler have both joined newly-promoted Conference side Lewes, who have also snapped up Chichester City United striker Chamal Fenelon.

Other Rocks players are expected to leave Nyewood Lane soon in the light of the club's decision to axe its budget for paying players.
