Another marathon crop of bowls reports feature nearly a dozen local clubs.
SOUTHBOURNE
Southbourne 104 Telepost 45
Southbourne entertained Telepost in a friendly triples match, winning on all four rinks but with a very close-fought match on the rink skippered by C Young.
Scores: A Williams, B Aston, M Odell won 21-10, J Jennings, M Bayliss, C Young won 23-18; J Davis, H Barnett, P Garrard won 32-6; F Brimcome, D Moseley, J Staker won 28-11.
Southbourne 112 Purbrook Heath 69
Southbourne played Purbrook Heath in a Reflex League match and won on four rinks with a draw on the fifth after Southbourne managed to pull back from being 15-5 down.

Norfolk B 94 Southbourne 58
In their first match on grass in the Littlehampton Gazette League, Southbourne men made a slow start but improved as the match progressed winning on one rink.
Scores: D House, J Davis, A Grief, F Armstrong won 18-16; K Lockyer, J Kingswell, C Soper, A Bull lost 28-11; C Young, A Williams, J Scorey, R Bull lost 29-11; C Petchey, D Young, D Alner, R Armstrong lost 21-18.
n A very enjoyable open fours tournament was held at Southbourne for 20 teams from Southbourne and other local clubs.
In a close competition, the winning team were The Seagulls from Arundel BC, who were presented with the Invitation Fours shield by Chris Halliwell of Addison Law solicitors, the main sponsor.
The 'Boys' came second and 'Me, You, +2' came third. The day was successfully organised by Margaret Odell and the bowlers enjoyed a ploughman's prepared by Karen Alner and helpers.
WITTERINGS
A total of 48 players from the Witterings club enjoyed a good President's Day, which featured an internal match of four sets of five ends.
Some new members were playing their first game.
After 20 ends, the winners, with a score of plus-ten, were Barbara Newman, Roger Beadman, Tilly Passant and Terry Passant.
Runners-up with plus-eight were Peg Lillywhite, Mike Ellerton, Brian Curtis and Heather Maxwell.
A buffet was supplied by Jean Edwards for the players and eight special guests, incluing life members Pat Smith and Roger Smith.
Witterings 29 Hotham 43
The Witterings played at home against Hotham in the BM Triples League but lost on both rinks.

It had to happen sooner or later. In the Witterings' third league game, at Bognor, the Witterings lost on all four rinks in the league – for the first time in over two
seasons.

PETWORTH
Petworth won a friendly game 63-30 against West Dean.
Scores: P Herrington, W Bryder, K Mitchell won 20-9, N Short, S Allen, A Jordan won 20-11, C Stevens, J Heyes, T Whittington won 23-10.
Petworth's visit to Haslemere ended in a 52-35 defeat.
Scores: J Dormer, R Lucking, B Walsh lost 18-17, P Spear, P Oberheim, C Spear won 17-7, C Stevens, J Heyes, W Bryder won 18-10.
Petworth had a good result in a division-one match against Worthing Pavilion.
Both clubs won on two rinks each, but Petworth took the extra two points for an overall score of 83-71.
Petworth took six points, worthing four.

Chichester were away to East Preston for their second round match in the National Top Club competition and with two narrow defeats and three good wins they progressed into the next round.
Scores: P Whale won 15-4; S Tooley lost 21-17; R Hobbs, A Anderson won 24-15; B Talmage, C Porter, J Heasman lost 15-10; I Linfield, P Howick, D Schofield, M Page won 20-14.
Chichester 93 Rogate 57
Chichester took the lead on the third end of their mixed friendly at home to Rogate and steadily built up their advantage to triumph by 36 shots. Mike Bayfield skipped their top rink to a 26 shot victory.

Fishbourne won by four shots in the first round of the Holbrook Cup at Midhurst.

Crablands lost at Worthing by 26 shots overall. Top rink was skipped by Mark Heasman, giving Crablands two points.

A lovely afternoon was enjoyed when Crablands ladies played at Bognor.
There were mixed fortunes in the results with one really good win and the other rink just losing on the last end.
Scores: B Neate, S Brooks, M Pocock, S Blyth lost 24-23, B Chandler, J Harman, L Tuck, J Rawlins won 39-12.
Crablands 88 RAFA 48
Crablands entertained RAFA on a sunny afternoon, winning on all rinks. Their top rink was skipped by Val Dudman.

n Captain's day at Crablands was enjoyed by all, despite a short rain break. Winners on the day were B Neate, S Brooks, C Garland and J Harman.
PAGHAM
Two friendly ladies' rinks joined four men's league rinks to play at Witterings. All four league rinks won for a 110-61 win and ten points. The ladies won 43-37.

RAFA brought five friendly triples to Pagham and the hosts won 102-74.

Four friendly mixed triples played at home to Middleton. It ended 68-68.

STEDHAM
The A side lost 4-1 at home to Bourne and the B side lost by the same score at Headley.
In a friendly at Sutton, Stedham recorded a 56-35 win, and a home game with Billingshurst saw 65-56 win by Stedham.
Stedham reached the second round of the Hotham 10s, beating Maltravers 79-68 over the two venues – losing 40-29 away and winning 50-28 at home. They will go on to play East Preston.
ALDINGBOURNE
In a two-rink C&M Ladies' League match against Beach Park, Aldingbourne won on one rink and drew on one rink, taking five points.
Joan Whetstone's team drew 13-13 and Marion Richards' won 27-14. The
friendly resulted in a 21-21 draw.
Some 40 players participated in the annual Founder's Day fixture, playing a five-rink round-robin competition.
The winning team of Stan Hayter, Barbara West, Derek Page and Marion Richards were presented with their prizes by John Phillips, the founder of the club.
Playing away to Worthing Pavilion B in the LG League, Aldingbourne went down on three rinks, winning on one and losing 77-67.

SHORT MAT BOWLS
Bognor Good-Woods Rocks played away to Chanctonbury Foxes in the Summer League, winning two games and taking four points.
Mat one lost the triples 19-7 and the pairs 18-5. But B Goodland, playing his first game after a winter in Spain, took the
singles 10-6 to secure two precious points.
Mat two lost the singles 18-6 and the pairs 16-3 but won their triples 9-8. The overall score was an 85-40 defeat for the Rocks.
