Arundel trainer John Dunlop got off to a stunning start at Goodwood's first midweek meeting of 2008.
His runner Kelowna, ridden by Tom Queally, came in at 40/1 in the Pioneerpoint Maiden Stakes, the first race of a card of seven.

Second was Resurge, third Military Power.

Dunlop said: "I was delighted with the win, though it didn't surprise me. Tom gave her a great ride."

It got better for Dunlop later in the afternoon as he saw his 28/1 shot Dalhaan, ridden by Steve Drowne, finish a close second behind Savarain and Dane O'Neill, who came home first at 11/4 in the Wedlake Bell Maiden Stakes.

The Empire Property Group International Conditions Stakes went to Patt Dobbs on Icesolator - the second win at Goodwood in six days for the pairing.

Amy Scott rode Seamus Shindig, a 12/1 shot, to victory in the closely-fought Novocapital Stakes (Handicap) as the afternoon continued to be a bad one for the favourite in each race. North South Divide ridden by Dane O'Neill was confirmed in second place after a photo.

Fergus Sweeney was a clear winner on Dove Cottage in the Gateway Project Services Stakes, with Littlehampton trainer Lady Herries enjoying a second place with Kokkokila.

The closest race of the afternoon to date came in the Empire Property Group International Fillies' Stakes as Eddie Ahern on Mekong Melody just nosed in front of Hayley Turner on Badalona in a photo finish.
