BOGNOR's under-11s started their festival at Chichester by losing the toss and being asked to bat.

Bognor finished on 169 for four in their 32 overs. G Dempster (38) & Becks Hemmingway (41) put on 60 for the third wicket.

Chichester finished on 150 for seven, giving Bognor a winning draw.
At Ansty, Bognor batted first and secured a winning
draw.

At home to Worthing, Bognor tied – giving Worthing the title and Bognor second place.

The under-11s were undefeated throughout the season.

Meanwhile, the weather was the only winner in Eastergate's final week of the SJC festival, with the under-11s losing games to rain-soaked squares.

The disappointment spurred the team on to beat Littlehampton and Middleton – only to be foiled by rain at Midhurst.

Against Worthing Chips, in a thrilling finale, Worthing Chips dismissed Eastergate just two short of the target.

The under-13s continued to improve, with some of the squad playing in the festival for the first time. The colts beat Goring and Findon but lost to Arundel and Worthing.

The club thanked everyone who has helped over the past month, such as scorers and umpires and the groundstaff for preparing first-class wickets.

They also praised the Observer for helping promote colts cricket.
