As their contribution to National Bike Week, Bognor Regis CC promoted an open ten-mile cycle time trial on the popular Fontwell course.

Despite the strong wind, a winning time of 20min 51secs was recorded by Chichester rider Graeme Stirzaker of Team a3crg.

Second was Southwick's Daniel Paine (GS Stella) in 21min 32secs, 18 seconds quicker than Nicholas Harvey of Portsmouth-based VC St Raphael.

The team prize was won by a3crg, who beat Storrington-based GS Stella by only 20 seconds.

The veterans' competition was well-supported and keenly-contested, with Eastbourne's Harry Featherstone proving too quick for Bognor's Roy Fairchild in second place.

Former Bognor rider and long-term Australian resident John Randall, currently riding with the Horsham club, was third fastest in the category, only four seconds adrift of Fairchild.

Further details on the club's activities are available at the website www.bognorregiscyclingclub.org.uk
