Hendrick and Field head the field

Action from the greens and fairways of Bognor, Chichester, Cowdray Park and Selsey feature in our latest golfing round-up.
BOGNOR
In Bognor's Festival of Golf, the Davis Bowl was won by Ron Hendrick and Andrew Field with 38 points. Second were Nick Martin and Stuart Bell (37), third JJ Stephenson and Ian Paine.
There were 124 entrants for the Millbourn Cup, an 18-hole open fourball bogey competition. Winners were JJ Stephenson and Ian Paine, +11 on countback from Martin Rudderham and Mark Ford.
Fifty-four took part in the Bognor Challenge Cup, a 36-hole medal competition.
The cup was donated in 1924 by the Bognor Chamber of Commerce to mark the establishment of the first 18-hole course in the town.
The winner was Bognor's Jim Catt on 134, with Matt Bates (Worthing) second on 139.
Bognor captain Ian Pettie was third on countback from Roly Heath and Ian Paine (both Bognor), all on 140. The scratch prize went to Matt Selby from St George's Hill.
Compliments were paid about the excellent condition of the course.
The Bert Reid 36-hole competition took place in gale-like conditions.
Nathan Parker won the trophy on 145, Dave Hicks (153) was second, Tom Lea and Andrew Field (154) third and fourth. Richard Longhurst won the plate on 161, with Simon Watts second on 169 and third Peter Austin on 172.
The club's ladies held a shotgun stableford competition.
Results: 1 S Watson and S Taylor (45pts), 2 G Harries and J Carter (40), 3 H Tidy and J Salt (38ocb).
CHICHESTER
In the annual match between Chichester's men's and veterans' sections,
the veterans defended the Rife Cup on the Cathedral course to retain the cup for a further year. It ended 3-3.

Chichester veterans lost their mixed match away to East Horton 6-2.

COWDRAY PARK
Cowdray Park's seniors won 5-3 at home to Bognor.

The Veterans' Cup was held at Cowdray Park, an 18-hole stableford competition for over-60s. Winner was David Heard (39pts), runner-up Harvey Terry (38) in a field of 32.
In the Presidents' Putter, a 36-hole scratch for the club championship, Steve White was the winner, going round in 141.
Second was Sean Gallagher on 148. A total of 24 players took part.
White was victorious again in the Bowyer Cup, a 36-hole medal.
His nett total was 131, with runner-up Rob Marjoram six shots behind.
In the Cowdray Antlers medal, Sean Gallagher and Jill Parry won (nett 71.5). Terry and Janet Jasper were second.
SELSEY
Pete Terry, president of Selsey Golf Club for many years, cut it fine to win the veterans' stableford on countback from Doug Muncey with 35 points.
The captain's pro team challenge competition resulted in Andy Nicholls, Simon Rishman, Dave White and Paul Carver winning well ahead of the field, taking the two best nett scores on each hole and coming in with 13 under.
Runners-up were Simon Aspital, son Tom, Martin Leo and son Henry.
Winner of the 36-hole Buxton Knight championship was Joan Bramer.
Runner up Janet Blackman. Handicap prize also went to Joan Bramer.
Ladies LGU medal winner was Penny Hesp. Runner-up was Gill Hill.
