Scores aplenty on the bowls beat

It's been a busy past week on the area's bowling greens.
PAGHAM
Pagham 116 Slough 78
Slough brought 48 visitors to Pagham for a five-rink mixed friendly but they could not prevent defeat.

Pagham 42 Chichester 56
Chichester Ladies brought a team of three triples for a friendly, with Pagham winning on only one rink and losing by 14 shots.
Scores: Beverley Quilter, Marlene Steel, Gill Dart lost 23-13; Eileen Terry, Brenda Pegnall, Eileen Shine lost 19-12; Judy Warner, Joan Wells, Annie Ross won 17-14.
The ladies played the CM League two rinks away at Middleton, earning four points in a nail-biting 33-32 win.
Scores: Diana Mitchell, Iris Brooker, Gill Dart, Gill Conley lost 19-18; Sabina Livermore,
Janet Boucher, Chris Mayoss, Maureen King won 15-13.
One triples of ladies also played at Middleton, with Beverley Quilter, Doreen Ellis and Betty Williams winning 15-12.
The ladies won six points playing at Hotham in the CM League, winning 58-22.

Pagham ladies lost away to Norfolk in a friendly triples 67-36.

In the CM Ladies League, Pagham beat Worthing Pavilion 53-22 to pick up six points.

Iris Brooker, Gill Dart, Sheila Stocker, Gill Conley, won 26-8.
Pagham Mixed met Telepost in a four-rinks contest, winning 82-10.

In the BM League Pagham played Wittering, losing 36-30 but winning on one rink to earn two points.

In the five-rink mixed friendly against Little Spain, Pagham won 104-82.

A mixed four rink friendly was played against Telepost, with a
96-57 win for Pagham.

A new fixture for Pagham was enjoyed when five rinks from Knaphill visited Bognor for a friendly, the visitors beating Pagham's mixed team 95-82.

The ladies played three friendly rinks from Norfolk at home, losing 63-59.
Scores: Joan Feast, Joan Wells, Marlene Steel, Maureen King won 24-20; Janet Boucher, Betty Williams, Sheila Stocker, Annie Ross won 20-19; Sylvia Pugh, Edna Cooke, Brenda Pegnall, Shirley Hart lost 24-15.
Wittering Ladies went to Pagham with two friendly rinks, beating their hosts 50-38.

PETWORTH
Graffham 51 Petworth 45 Graffham got revenge against Petworth with a six-shot win.

The Visually Impaired from Worthing enjoyed playing on Pagham's artificial green.

Stedham 48 Petworth 66
A good game of bowls on a very hot afternoon at Stedham with Petworth coming out on top.

A good game saw Petworth win on three rinks.

Wittering won on all four rinks in this Littlehampton Gazette League clash, securing ten points in their quest for promotion to the first division.

The ladies played host to Chichester in the C&M League, drawing on one rink and losing on one.

They also played a friendly match but unfortunately lost.

The ladies won their first game of the season in the C&M League, gaining six points.

The Witterings & District BC took another giant stride towards promotion from division two of the Littlehampton Gazette League by taking eight points out of a possible ten from one of their main rivals.

A friendly game played in perfect weather attracted RBL players from as far away as Lewes, Lancing, Worthing and Burgess Hill. Action was enjoyed by all and finished with a cream tea organised by Jean Edwards.

Playing away to Crablands in the two rinks ladies league, Aldingbourne went down 41-29.
Rink 1: E Taylor, P Wyatt, B Cunningham,
M Richards lost 23-14. Rink 2: S Carter, M Jupp, J Whetstone, J Cobbett lost 18-15.
They also went down 39-24 in the two-rink triples league.
Rink 3: C Mulholland, L Hathaway F Mulholland lost 19-13. Rink 4: J Hayter, K Robini,
R Wiedenheoft lost 20-11.
There was another defeat in the two-rink friendly.
Rink 5: G Jacobs, S Hayter, J Gilpin, M Page lost 24-9.
Rink 6: A Cobbett, W Tribe, T Tappenden,
D Page lost 30-10.
A ladies league match at Petworth resulted in a heavy defeat.

A four-rink friendly saw Aldingbourne losing on three rinks and winning on one.

Rink 5: T Hall, A Carter, D Page, M Page won
24-18.
Rink 6: L West, F Mulholland, K Robini,
O Fidgeon lost 21-18.
Aldingbourne were 87-74 winners against Tarring Priory in the Hotham Tens trophy.
Les West beat Chris Ruff 21-18 in his away singles.
The pair of Freddie Taylor and Allan Carter won 31-13 at home.
The home triple of Alan Hall Gordon Lester and Tony Hall won 24-14 – a good win against formidable opposition.
The away four of Laurie Cunningham, Roy Wyatt, Gary Jacobs and Keith Robini went down 29-11 to a strong Priory team. Aldingbourne meet Leigh Park in the next round.

BOGNOR REGIS
Bognor Regis 76 Worthing 91 Worthing got stronger as the game progressed and Bognor had to settle for three points.

This was another nailbiter of a game at Waterloo Square with the result not settled until the final ends.

Leigh Park 95 Chichester 74 Chichester ventured across the border to Hampshire for a mixed friendly against Leigh Park.

There's no change at the top in division one but Pulborough move into third place having taken four points at RAFA.
In division two, Pagham entertained Southbourne and took four points to go back to the top with a one-point advantage over Arundel.
