MEET the latest golfing greats proving we've got more than our fair share of aces on local fairways.
Colin Trump and Jim Catt are the latest two entrants in the Observer's hole-in-one competition.
The pair have already won themselves each a sleeve of Wilson golf balls by sending in verified entries.
And they now join the line up for our nearest-the-pin competition, in which all our hole-in-one heroes will play off to win a super Ping putter.
Chichester Golf Club are sponsoring our competition, as they did last year, and they will host the final early in the spring on the signature 15th hole at their picturesque Cathedral course.
And it was the Chichester club where one of our latest entries came from.
Colin Trump, who lives at Boxgrove, said: "I'm probably your most unlikely entry so far for your competition. I'm a 75-year-old occasional player, usually at the nine-hole par three course at Hunston.
"My hole in one came on the 100-yard final hole while playing with members of our badminton group. We hold a competition at the course each year then follow it with a meal at a local pub.
"This time I'd had a dreadful round. My shoulders were tight, I was having trouble getting my swing going and my putting was going to pot.
"Instead of my usual threes and fours, I was getting fives and sixes. By the time I got to the final hole I was thinking "Come on Colin, you can do better than this".
"I managed, at last, to loft it straight down the middle. My friend Bruce told me it had bounced once and when it pitched again, it just rolled and disappeared.
"When I got to the green, I couldn't see my ball, but found it in the hole. Although I was playing with a yellow ball, I hadn't been able to follow it because I'm due to have a cataract operation."
Inevitably the drinks were on Colin after his feat but he added: "It was an afternoon game so the drinks were mainly teas and coffees."
Joining Colin in our line-up is Jim Catt from Felpham.
The 61-year-old struck his hole in one on the second at Bognor Golf Club, where he has played for about 20 years.
"It was the same hole where I got my first hole in one, about three years ago," he said.
"I got this one in a friendly round of golf with the president, Bill Chick, and Trevor Baxter.
"It's always good to impress the president, I suppose.
"I didn't see it go in. It was quite a misty day, but we soon realised what had happened."
* It's not too late to enter the hole-in-one competition.
If you live in the Observer area, your ace counts wherever you struck it, and whether it was in a competition or a round with friends.
To verify your entry, we need you to send your signed card, plus a covering letter from the club where the ace went in.
Tell us all the details about the shot and include a contact telephone number.
