CHICHESTER under-11s ended their season with more silverware – thanks to an excellent performance at the Worthing Festival.

The first and easiest match of the day was against Tunbridge Wells Lions.

Chichester controlled the game from start to finish and tries from Bennett and Bell gave a confident start and a 10-0 victory.

The secnd match was a game of two halves. The first half was dominated by Warlingham with most of the play on the Chichester line.

Chichester defended their line superbly and were unlucky to concede a try.

But in the second half, Chichester were dominant. Hudson equalised and as they pressurised for the win, they were unlucky as twice they crossed the try line but the ball was judged to have been held up. It finished 5-5.

The plate semi-final was against Burgess Hill. Chichester started well and after initial pressure, Shepherd put them into the lead.

Chichester never really looked troubled, but one or two handling errors meant they failed to build on their 5-0 lead.

That led to a final against hosts Worthing. It was finely-balanced as the play moved from end to end.

After a tremendous spell of pressure from Chichester, the team thought they had clinched a win as they crossed the try line – but once again the ball was held up.

Despite one last effort, they were unable to break the deadlock and the trophy was shared after a 0-0 draw.
