The Selsey GC pro am was a challenge to any golfer, played in strong to gale-force winds and nearly continuous rain.

A total of 26 sponsors, each supporting a team of three amateurs and one pro, participated in the club's centenary event, a total of 104 players.

The course was the winner with only one pro score of 70 against par/standard scratch score for the course of 68.

The winning pro was Nick Scott from Royal Ashdown Forest GC, with a score of 70. His team, sponsored by Selsey juniors – George Pyett, Dean Dowsett and Robbie Twyford – were the team winners with a score of minus five.

Joint second for the pros were Ian Campbell from Brighton & Hove GC and Arron Trott from Singing Hills GC, both with 71.

Second prize was won by pro Mark Dowsell, Matt Hurst, Paul Hinselwood and Mark Hinshelwood, sponsored by Selsey Cards, with a score of minus five, on countback, and third were pro Allan Tyson, Danny Nolan, Billy Daniels and Paul Claxton, sponsored by the Dream Team, with minus three on countback.

CHICHESTER

The club's veterans came away from Slinfold with an honourable 4-4 draw.

Result (Chichester names first): D Gilder & D Matthey lost to S Fisher & J Griffiths 3&2; D Blythe & M White beat A Tisshaw & P Bradley 4&3; G Williams & R Stainsby lost to M Milburn & G Skidmore; K Jackson & B Henwood beat G Dunkley & F Catlow 3&1; B Dolton & M beer beat A Meek & J Mason 1 up; P Black & C Lindsell beat G Ross & R MacLean 5&3;
D Imlach & R Fletcher lost to M Lowery & M Welsh 3&1; B Morris & A Grant lost to P Courtnage & R Brennan 3&2.

COWDRAY PARK

The seniors beat Corhampton 7-1.

Results: Wally Mitchell & Peter Burton halved against Arthur Hansley & John Knight; David Laver & Peter Hallt won 5&4 against John Young and Mike Bell; Paul Berry & Chris Hall won 4&3 against Geoff Staley & Ray Crump; John E Smith & Eric Hobbs won 8&6 against Jim Yates & Jerry Brown; Tony Castley & Jim Green won 5&4 against Iain Niven & Dave Meadus; George Crouch & Mike Hall won 3&2 against Chris Garrod & David Western; Alan Godfree & Terry Moran won 6&4 against Tony Hall & Terry Honour; Rex Woods & Alan Sibley halved against Bill Goodchild & Dave Bevington.
