Youth football: Felpham edge the battle of the Colts

Wins for Felpham Colts, Barnham Trojans, Midhurst & Easebourne, Bognor Colts, Summerley Park Rangers and Chi City Colts feature in this week's youth football round-up.

UNDER-NINE

Felpham Colts 3 Chi City Colts 2

Mason Haga-Hammond scored a fantastic volley just five minutes into the game.

Louie Mockford-Allott took on four defenders to make it 2-0.

Felpham had chances to put it beyond doubt but Chichester hit back in the second half. They got one and scored again two minutes from time.
With seconds left, Charlie Sixsmith broke on the left and set up Lewis Faint for the winner.

Barnham Troj 8 Highdown Sts 0

Barnham maintained their challenge at the top of the table with a convincing home win.

Saints did not drop their heads and kept trying.

The goals were shared between Saunders, Ursell, Hobbs, Cook and Davidson with parents voting for Ursell as man of the match.

BARNHAM: Tom Clarke, James Perry, Bradley Higgins-Pearce, Freddie Hobbs, Adam Ursell, Jack Saunders, Alfie Davidson, Ryan Cook.

Barnham Troj 2 Felpham C 1 (aet)

Barnham showed their character by edging this thrilling Challenge Cup quarter-final.

Hobbs flicked in from a fine Higgins-Pearce corner.

With less than five minutes left in normal time, Felpham equalised, beating the excellent Clarke in the Barnham goal.

It went into extra-time and Barnham edged it courtesy of a cool finish by Cook. Man of the match was Clarke, ahead of Perry.

BARNHAM: Tom Clarke, James Perry, Bradley Higgins-Pearce, Freddie Hobbs, Adam Ursell, Ryan Cook, Jack Saunders, Alfie Davidson, Tom Critchell.

UNDER-12

Midhurst & Easebourne 7 Felpham Colts 0

Midhurst progressed to the semi-final of the Invitation Cup with an easy victory over spirited Felpham.

They dominated from start to finish but good defending and goalkeeping kept the scoreline relatively respectable. Scorers for Midhurst were Ryan Bicknell (3), Ben Pett (2), Connor Reid and Eddie Davis. Man of the Match was the outstanding Davis.

UNDER-13

Midhurst & Easebourne 5 Preston Blades 2

Midhurst lost midfielder Aaron Andrews after ten minutes through injury.
Jack Mepham opened the scoring for the home team before Midhurst were awarded a penalty and Liam Field-Millard converted.

Minutes into the second half, Jake Burtoo scored a good goal. Sam Cain added another two fantastic runs and passes from Burtoo.

Preston pulled one back with a great goal and added a quick second.
Midhurst man of the match was Burtoo.

MIDHURST: Ford, Thompson, Largan, Eeles, Wilson, Andrews, Mepham, White, Wakeham, Thornley, Field-Millard, Cain, Burtoo.

Bognor Colts 2 Highdown Saints 0

Bognor took control and Jamie Horncastle put in a superb cross that Sam Neil finished.

Highdown had a shot cleared off the line by Josh Irish. A free-kick saw George Lawrence narrowly missing and a Horncastle shot hit the crossbar.

Bognor dominated the second half and they were rewarded with the clincher by Neil.

Bognor boss Paul Curran has now reached the final three times in the past four years.

Predator Tig 1 Summerley Park Rangers 2

Summerley started slowly in this Invitation Cup semi-final and Predators took the lead following a goalmouth scramble.

Summerley levelled on 25 minutes, Kilhams passing to Rafferty, who found Cleall on the edge of the area. He finished well in the top corner.

A final attack from Summerley on 67 minutes saw a through-ball headed over the oncoming keeper by Rafferty for Groom to bury it into the net.
Summerley meet Worthing Rebels in the final. Man of the match was Cian Griffin-Tilley.

Summerley: Sargent, Yates, Terry, Farndell, Millard, Hamilton, Kilhams, B Smith, Rafferty, Cleall, V Smith, Nicholson, Groom, Griffin-Tilley.

Barnham Trojans 3 Selsey Seals 0

Barnham gained the upper hand when Michael Gilchrist sent a corner over for Dominic Baker to power an unstoppable header into the net.

In the second half, Luke Major controlled a cross and neatly drilled the ball into the back of the net.

Another Gilchrist corner saw Selsey's keeper unable to hold on to the ball and Joshua James ran in to score.

UNDER-14

Pagham Youth 2 Sompting & Thistle 3

Pagham were off to a flier when Tim Collino scored after two minutes, and Curtis Poole made it 2-0 with a header. Sompting scored on the stroke of half-time.

In the second half Sompting equalised early on. Both sides went for the win but Sompting won it with a penalty.

Like the first game, this was close with both teams pushing forward, but Pagham's defence held firm and Ryan Carter in goal made some crucial saves.

PAGHAM: Carter, Lane, Stannard, Southerton, Hanson, Edwards, Poole, Strachan, Formaggia, Collino, Garner, Calderwood.

Chi City Colts A 5 Chichester City Colts B 0

The A team took the lead with a spectacular individual effort by Josh Rafferty.

With three shots cleared off the line and Rafferty hitting the post, the B team were lucky not to concede many more.

Rafferty completed a hat-trick, and Alex Whibley-Conway scored two. Half-time sub Servan Yildirim was man of the match.

COLTS A: Carvalho, Symonds (c), Hurford, Smyth, Knight, Whibley-Conway, Chittock, McCue, Dowdell, Douglas, Rafferty. Subs: Yildirim, Cane, Game.

UNDER-16

Avisford Youth 0 Chichester City Colts A 7

Chichester started slowly in this Invitation Cup semi-final but took the lead through Manners after Barton set him up. Manners grabbed two more to complete his second straight hat-trick.

Colts got another before half-time when McCarthy tapped into an empty net.

Lochhead and Ellis were up front after the break and both got on the scoresheet, with Lochhead also hitting the bar four times. Barton also scored.

COLTS: Dubben, Croad, McGreal, Madden, Harding, Groom, Gilson, Barton, Forry, Manners, McCarthy, Lochhead, Ellis, House.

Barnham Trojans 1 Bosham Youth 1

Barnham's Jake Boase held off a defender to put his shot to the side of the goalie.

In the second half, a Bosham free-kick on the edge of the area sailed inches over.

Boase found himself one-on-one with the goalie but shot just wide.

Bosham equalised with a low shot from outside the box.

BARNHAM: Lambeth, Fortin, Dobson, Perkins, Winterflood, Wagstaff, Smith, Temple, Menzies, James, Boase. Subs: Richards, Breheny, Dearden.

Bosham Youth 1 Barnham Trojans 1

Barnham started brightly, with Pete Dearden shooting inches wide.

Bosham grabbed the opener when a low rasping shot from 25 yards went in off the post.

Barnham equalised when James sent a low shot into the corner. James drew a great save and Dearden missed a penalty.

BARNHAM: Lambeth, Dobson, Perkins, Winterflood, Wagstaff, Menzies, James, Taylor, Richards, Breheny, Dearden. Sub: Temple, Fortin, Smith.

UNDER-18

Felpham Colts 2 Worthing Rebels 5

The Rebels stormed into a two-goal lead after some poor defending.

Felpham fought back with two quickfire goals from man of the match Robert Brown. But they conceded another before half-time and another two after the break.

FELPHAM: Negus, Dubben, Hood, Webb, Green, McMurchie, Ashmore, Song, Brown, Moore, Weir, Subs Robinson, Knapp, Ford.
