DEPLETED Bognor had only a penalty from Rob Parry to show for their efforts as they finally got a game on at Hampshire Avenue - losing 20-3 to Andover in Hampshire League division one.

They had five regulars out injured or unavailable - but incredibly, all their places were taken by ex-first team captains who stepped up to help out - George Castleton, Karl Flinn, Lee Balchin, Nigel Mitchell and Rob Parry.

Paul Mitchell was the other vet who stepped up to help out.

There were lots of positives against a strong side who are top of the table and favourites for promotion. Bognor were losing 10-3 at half-time but had several opportunities to score at the start of second half.

Andover’s defence held firm and they finished strongly to stretch their lead.
