Bognor lost in the Sussex League but won in the T20 ina mixed weekend for the men from the Regis Oval.
Bognor v Ansty
Sussex League division three
After electing to bowl, Bognor’s bowlers found the going tricky as Ansty progressed to 69 for no loss.
However the introduction of seamer Josh Broad pulled momentum back Bognor’s way as the Ansty top order fell to his finely-bowled four for 55, leaving them on 135 for seven.
Richard Smith counter-attacked with a 54-ball 55 that saw Ansty end on 235 for eight.
In reply, Bognor’s batsmen all made a start but could not push on. Wicketkeeper Ryan Maskell top-scored with 42 and with Ansty’s Samuel Adams taking four for 42 and skipper Glenn Anson four for 80, Ansty won the contest by 21 runs.
Bognor v Keymer and Hassocks
Gray Nicolls T20 Cup Quarter Final
Looking to bounce back from the previous day’s defeat, Bognor were inserted by the visitors and were made to pay dearly by a blistering start from burly opener Elliott Clarke (46) and in-form wicketkeeper Ryan Maskell (69).
With all Bognor’s batsmen chipping in, a good total of 172 for six was posted.
In reply, a double-salvo from the gregarious Louis Paul and ever-combative Josh Broad (both with two for 23) kept K&H in check but three for 17 from South African supremo Zayne Bux saw Keymer & Hassocks end on 135 for eight.
Bognor won by 39 runs and set up a meeting with East Grinstead.
