CHICHESTER Priory Park CC’s preparations for the new season are well under way.

Under a new club captain Matt Geffen - last season’s stand-out bowler - and with new overseas player Michael Corrigan from Newcastle, New South Wales, in the ranks, they have also appointed Sean Dobbs as senior club coach.

They are looking forward to seeing their investment in youth come to the fore. Beck Hemingway was recently awarded an academy contract with Sussex and Ben Caldera achieved a similar status with Hampshire.

In addition, there are a number of places up for grabs vacated by retirements and emigration, for which talented youngsters will be vying.

They are looking forward to the challenge of division-two cricket, and hope to regain their Premier League status ready for 2015.

In preparation for the season, the club will be supporting Natwest Cricket Force event on April 5, when the clubhouse and surrounding areas will be refurbished to set the scene for a sparkling start. They look forward to seeing all hands on deck.

Pre-season training began at the University of Chichester sports hall two Sundays ago - sessions run weekly from 9.30am to midday.

The club pride themselves on providing a warm welcome to new players, so if you want to get involved, go along to training, or, if you require further details, contact Graeme Bennison on 07801 136406.
