Chichester’s uncder-15B rugby side have chalked up another two convincing victories to consolidate top spot in their league.

Chichester and Crawley were well-matched physically but Chichester were soon rewarded with an early score by Rahaman.

The forwards, led by Eggleton and Inness, prevented Crawley making ground and secured possession by capturing any loose ball. The relentless pressure was rewarded by a try from the back of the scrum from Furness, working well with Blakely, converted by Johnson.

Chichester were in complete control through the good understanding between backs Clink, Rice and Lock, who released wings Reading and Lock to score a further two tries. McManus went over to make the half-time score 31-0.

Having secured the bonus point, Chichester brought on Kay, Reid, Jackson, Collyer and Elliot. Crawley launched a series of attacks and were rewarded with an early try.

Stanley denied Crawley with a massive tackle that earned him a yellow card and ten minutes off the field.

With Chichester down to 14, Crawley seized the initiative and took advantage to score twice more. Fine performances from Chesney, Stockbridge and Sprackling prevented Crawley from closing the score. It ended 31-17.

Chichester won their sixth consecutive league game to maintain their position at the top. In muddy and windy conditions, Chichester’s first two tries were scored by inside centre Clink.

Each time, Sprackling, Aylmore, Myers and Chesney took the ball close to the line and Clink wriggled over. Johnson converted one of the tries but Crows pulled back a score.

The try of the day came as No8 Furness picked up inside his own half, handing off four opponents before touching down in the corner.

Johnson kicked long, chased, hacked on and scored and converted to secure a bonus point.

Crowborough barged over for a late try.

Chichester require just two more wins now to retain the title.
