City lodge appeal over 'ineligible player' row

CHICHESTER City United's appeal hearing over their charge of fielding an ineligible player will be heard next week.

They submitted their appeal to the Sussex FA last week and they will get the chance to plead their case on Tuesday, June 2.

Chichester are in hot water after it emerged Callum Cutler had been playing for them while banned by the Hampshire FA for non-payment of a fine.

Cutler has told Chichester he paid the fine to his club, who were in the Havant Sunday League, and thought it had been dealt with, and did not know he had been banned.

City stand to lose 19 points – not enough to relegate them – although the league will not award points to teams who lost to Chichester when Cutler played.

That decision saw Eastbourne UA confirmed as champions.
