For the second year in a row, West Wittering CC and the Sussex Cricket Board hosted a Chance to Shine cricket tournament at the Millennium Meadow featuring their three link schools West Wittering, East Wittering and Sidlesham.
More than 70 pupils took part in beautiful sunshine, competing in a round-robin kwik cricket tournament.
Sid the Shark, Sussex CCC’s mascot, came to join in the fun.
West Wittering B were the eventual winners of the tournament after some close run games, great catches and huge sixes.
Shaun Standing, chairman and coach at West Wittering Cricket Club, said: “This event has proved to be a success yet again and it is great to see children playing the game who wouldn’t normally have access to it, all thanks to the Chance to Shine cricket programme.
“We have gained around ten new members for our junior section this year thanks to the programme and we will definitely look to run this event again next year.”
Sussex Cricket in the Community are running a summer holiday camp at West Wittering CC, from August 4 to 6. For more information or to book, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
