Darren can stand tall after Crouch triumph
A total of 87 members took part in the 18-hole Stableford Crouch Cup at Bognor GC.
The winner was Darren Longhurst with 42 points, playing off a five
handicap. Second was Nathan Parke on 39, on countback from Shaun Maskell. Alan Simmonds was fourth with 38.
Mike Oates won division two on 42, and Ian Simpson was second on 37.
Adrian Smith, with 40, won division three, with Atholl Souter second on 39.
Golf continues at a hectic pace for Bognor's veterans' section, 57 of whom experienced heavy showers and wind when taking part in the second round of the Fletcher Trophy.
Even so, there were very good scores, with Dave Turner first on 39 points, Bob Green second on 38 and Tony Wells third on 37 on countback from Peter Collins.
The leading qualifiers for the final to be played later in the year are Bob Green with 36 qualifying points, Paul Irish (35) and Richard Hedge (32).
The veterans section have played several matches recently. At Ifield they lost 5-2.

The veterans returned to their winning ways when they won 5-3 at home against Ham Manor. That was followed by a very good win at home against Rowlands Castle 6-1.

COWDRAY PARK
A DUO from Cowdray Park GC are a stroke away from playing in Europe's biggest pro-am competition.
Amateur Colin West, 65, has won the opportunity of playing with club pro Scott Brown, 35, after winning the club qualifying competition with a score of 43 points.
West, who has been playing golf for 15 years and plays off a handicap of 12, will now travel to Hindhead Golf Club with Brown to compete in the regional finals.
The pair could reach the final of the Virgin Atlantic PGA National Pro-Am Championship if they can make it through the their final on July 15.
The tournament, celebrating its 25th competitive year, attracts more than 100,000 competitors from across Great Britain and Ireland with an overall prize fund of 30,000.
The 'am-am' at Cowdray Park was an 18-hole team stableford for teams of four, with the best two scores to count on each hole.
Results: Winners: Sean White, Debbie Cheasley, Brian and Wendy Street; runners-up: Dave Lucking, Mick Whitcomb, Robin Phillips, Roger Rose.
The Veterans' Cup, an 18-hole stableford for the over-60s, saw a good turnout of 50 playing on a sunny day, with the course the real winner.
There were four golfers on 36 points, with Roger Poat and Martin Lester missing out on countback to winner Mike Hancock and runner-up Peter Burton.
Cowdray Park seniors entertained ten pairs of seniors from Betchworth Park in a return match of a popular fixture.
Five of the Cowdray pairings exacted revenge on their previous results, culminating in a 7-3 win for the home side.

SELSEY
SELSEY Golf Club hold an open day this Saturday. The club, who
celebrated their centenary in 2008, are situated on the B2145 as you enter Selsey.
The mature, taxing course was once owned by Max Falkner, Open
champion in 1951 and the club pro at that time.
Accredited with the Golf Mark in 2007, it boasts a welcoming
environment to young and old, novices or seasoned pros.
The club professional is on hand to give advice as well as offer expect tuition.
A challenging links-type nine-hole course in the shadow of the South Downs offers membership at substantially-reduced rates for adults and superb deals for juniors.
A comfortable clubhouse with licensed bar and restaurant is also available.
Saturday offers an excellent chance to become part of the club. Visit between 10am and 3pm to find out more.
n Selsey's Captain/Pro Challenge was a full handicap competition where
players picked a team of four.
In third place with a score of 16 under par were Craig Newman, Martin Kay, Alan Neno and Terry Chapman.
Second with a score of 17 under were Kevin Fielder, Jack Osborne, Sam Hassall and Joe Allen and the winning team of fathers and sons were Ted and Steve Growns and Ian and Matt Lee with 20 under.
AVISFORD PARK
In the Sussex County Gilbert Print Plate, Avisford's seniors' team played at Mid-Sussex in a nail-biting foursomes match. It resulted in an excellent 2-1 win for Avisford Park.

Chichester Golf Club are holding an open day this Sunday. The Hunston complex will welcome visitors between 11am and 4pm.
