Eastergate Cricket Club celebrated the end of a fantastic season at their presentation evening.

This season saw the first XI being promoted into division 1one of the West sussex Invitation league and the seconds being promoted into division six.

The T20 team reached the final of the competition, losing off the final ball. The colts teams saw success again this year with the under-16 winning their league and festival league with the under-13s performing likewise in their festival.

On an individual basis Jonathan Dakic, Nick Smith and Jack Spencer-Jones all made representative appearances at either national or county level with Dakic touring with England in Australia, Smith joining up with the ECB squads and playing against the West Indies and Spencer-Jones representing Sussex and gaining an award at the Sussex awards night held in Hove. Smith also made his debut for the Sussex second XI aged just 15.

Club captain Ian Payne said: “For such a small club we are delighted with the season’s achievements at all levels, playing well and just as importantly having fun. Any aged player from six upwards looking to join the club please contact us through www.eastergate.play-cricket.com”
