BOSSES at Fontwell Park declared their third October Festival a success - and can already look forward to a repeat next year following confirmation of the 2014 fixtures.
The figure-of-eight track has retained all its big feature meetings for next year, including the back-to-back fixtures at this time of the season which are fast establishing themselves as key dates for the venue.
Last Friday and Saturday, well over 6,000 race-goers poured through the gates to see 15 races over two days, including a number of exciting finishes.
The 2014 programme for Fontwell includes the same again for next year, as well as other big meetings like the May bank-holiday family raceday and Boxing Day.
Fontwell general manager Tracy Skinner said the festival had gone according to plan and staff were buoyed by its success.
She said: “On Friday we had just over 2,000 in the gates and Saturday’s crwod was around 4,200 - which was up by 1,400 on last year. That was pleasing and the feedback we’ve had has been excellent.
“People enjoyed the racing and many came to both days, which is what a festival like this is all about.
“Now we have had our fixtures for next year, we can already start to plan to build on these two days, which have become an important feature for us.”
They race again at Fontwell on Wednesday, October 23.
