Albion face Reading for Kuipers’ testimonial

Brighton will line up against Premier League newcomers Reading for the club’s former goalkeeping legend Michel Kuipers’ testimonial.

The Dutchman, who recently signed an extension to his deal at League One Crawley, will be included in the Seagulls squad for the pre-season friendly at The Amex on Tuesday, August 7.

And, with Brighton’s Championship campaign kicking off a week later, Gus Poyet is likely to field a full-strength.

Reading boss Brian McDermott has also promised to bring a strong Reading side, with their Premier League campaign starting eleven days after the testimonial.

Kuipers, who was recently named the Albion’s best ever import, said, “Having been with the Albion as a player for virtually the entire time we were at Withdean, the dream for us all was to get the new stadium.

“I am proud to have been part of that journey to realise the dream, alongside the fans, and I am delighted to have the chance to play in front of the Albion fans at the Amex.”

“I would like to thank Gus Poyet. The game is an important part of the pre-season build up, so I am grateful that he is giving me the opportunity to play for the club again.”

A string of packages are available for the match, including 1901 Club slots and Kuipers meet and greet available at £50 and £30.

General tickets go on sale on July 1, and will be £15 for adults, £12 for over-65s and £6 for under-16s. These will be available via all the usual methods.

Parking is also available on site for £10 per car, booked through customer services on 0845 873 0251.

For more information on the hospitality deals fans can contact Jo Brooks or Ashleigh Woods on 01273 878 282 or email 1901clubbrighton@azure.uk.com.

Packages must be booked before 5pm on Thursday, August 2.

Kuipers played almost 250 games for the Albion during his ten year spell on the south coast and established himself as a firm favourite with the fans.
