When Steve Rishman and Paul Gamblin started running a team at Felpham Colts four years ago, they never dreamt of the success to come.

The team have done well – and in particular their sons Ozzy and Rocco have thrived.

The Colts, now under-nines, have been almost unstoppable in the past three seasons, winning 54 games out of 55, scoring 400 goals and conceding only 80.

The level of ability in the 15-strong squad has been outstanding and over the past few months they have had interest from several professional clubs.

Now Pompey have taken on Ozzy and Rocco. They were asked to undertake a six-week trial and after only two weeks, Fratton Park staff and coaches recognised their talent.

The boys, their dads and their families, were invited to the club’s boardroom, where both boys signed their first contracts with a professional academy side.

Steve said: “Paul and I have always taken time to ensure the team play football the right way. But All Star Soccer West Sussex has had a huge part to play, too.

“The boys now travel to Portsmouth four times a week to train and play matches against other professional clubs’ academy sides.”
