Chichester City Ladies’ reserves have been playing in an old kit for the past few seasons and needed a new one as their shorts and shirts were looking a bit worse for wear.
The Sussex Police Property Act Fund aims to support local good causes with donations generally ranging from £100 to £500 unless exceptional circumstances.
Caz Henry-Evans, the ladies’ secretary and reserve manager, spoke to local PCSO Jason Lemm about the possibility of funding to help with buying a new kit and he was extremely helpful and accommodating.
Caz said: “It was a simple process - a conversation with PCSO Lemm and a one-page form that needed approval. The application was processed in just a few weeks and the cheque was presented at training by David Phillips from Chichester district neighbourhood policing team.
“The ladies are very grateful for the contribution towards our kit, which has now been ordered and will hopefully arrive soon.
The ladies have begun the season extremely well with five wins from five and the new kit will help them to look the part while they play.
“Thank-you to Sussex police for their help with this - we recommend others to get in contact with their local PCSO for more information.”
The reserves are through to the second round of the league cup with a bye after Prince of Wales couldn’t field a side.
Chichester Ladies’ first team’s game against Chesham last weekend was postponed because of a flooded pitch. They play in the FA Cup third qualifying round this Sunday at Oaklands Park against Denham United (1.30pm).
