Felpham win dramatic cup final
There’s news of wins for Bosham, Northchapel Colts and Chichester City Colts in our latest youth football round-up - plus a cup triumph for Felpham Colts.
UNDER-16
Northchapel 2 Bosham 3
With both sides in with an outside chance of winning the league, this was a vital game and it was a well-fought one at Northchapel Green.
Northchapel took the lead after 20 minutes through Banting. They broke quickly after defending a free-kick and a long ball down the Bosham left saw a slight error in defence which the Northchapel striker took full advantage of to slot past keeper Will Burch.
This seemed to ignite Bosham and within five minutes they were level. Tim Callen played in Charlie Hawes, who chested the ball forward and got there before the Northchapel keeper to poke home.
Bosham took the upper hand late in the half and went 2-1 up when an early ball into the box from Aaron Domblides went through two defenders and landed at Charlie Hawes’ feet for him to convert from eight yards.
Just before half-time Bosham’s Jack Antony hit the crossbar with a 20-yard free-kick.
In the second half, Bosham had two good chances that fell to Hawes but he couldn’t put them away.
Midway through the half, Northchapel levelled following a poor defensive clearance. A misplaced header saw the ball land at the feet of Przpiorka, whose shot from the edge of the box beat the Bosham keeper.
Hawes went close twice more and with eight minutes left, a move down the Bosham right saw a cross find Cory Budd, whose volley was deflected up in the air and came down to the hit the bar.
It was put back across the goal by Tyler Todd for Tim Callen to volley in.
With skipper Phil Merrick leading the back-line, Bosham held on for the win. Man of the match was defender Stuart Andrews.

Northchapel Colts 3 Worthing Town Youth 2
Northchapel took the lead through a fine goal from Challen.
The lead was quickly doubled by Poste and Challen got his second with a lob over the keeper from a tight angle.
Chapel went in 3-0 up at half-time but faltered after the break. Worthing pulled two goals back but Chapel managed to hang on to earn three points.

UNDER-15
Regis 2000 0 Sompting & Thistle 0
This was a close-fought match with the home side taking the point they needed to win the league.
Regis were clearly nervous and Sompting had the lion’s share of the early play. Defences were on top and few chances were created during the first half.
Regis improved in the second half and Jordan Charles had the best chance of scoring but the keeper made a fine save from his header.
There were a couple of anxious moments in the Regis penalty box but the final whistle brought relief and great joy as Regis celebrated winning the under-15 A League.
Congratulations to Big Tony and all the boys on a fantastic season.

UNDER-14
Felpham Colts 3 Worthing Minors Youth 3
(Felpham won 3-2 on pens)
In a thrilling Invitation Cup final, Felpham came back from the dead to secure a win on penalties. Worthing took an early lead after a long through-ball was delicately lobbed over the onrushing keeper Louis Mahoney. Felpham quickly equalised when a cross from Joe Ashmore was turned in by Joe Coyle.
Worthing scored twice more to make the half-time score 3-1.
An invigorated Felpham started to dominate many areas of play in the second half and were rewarded when a defensive error allowed Ashmore to find the bottom corner.
With time running out and several chances having been wasted, Ashmore was again on hand to equalise from close range, sending the game to extra-time.
Despite dominating the extra period, Felpham were unable to find any extra goals - meaning a penalty shootout would decide it.
Felpham triumphed 3-2 with successful conversions from Archie Awcock,
Beck Hemingway and Chris Song, with two fine saves from Mahoney sending the Felpham boys and their parents home happy.

Midhurst & Easebourne 0 Bosham 1
Despite Midhurst being two divisions below Bosham, they held their own in this friendly and had the majority of play in the first half.
The second half opened with end-to-end football, but Bosham were allowed one good run at goal and took full advantage, scoring a fantastic goal halfway through the half.

UNDER-13
Chichester City Colts A 12 Bourne Sports 1
A comprehensive win moved the Colts back to the top of the league.
They were rewarded with a goal in the opening two minutes from George Cody. A number of chances came and went before Cody and Graham shared four more goals to make it 5-0 at half-time.
A lovely cross from Thomas Smith and a header from Cody made it six before top scorer Cheeseman added his own hat-trick.
Jack Graham added a further two, including a lovely individual effort, and Ruddick added another.
The visitors never gave up and were rewarded when sloppy marking at a corner led to their consolation. For Colts, it was greatpreparation for this Sunday’s Invitation Cup final.

UNDER-12
Predators Youth 0 Worthing Minors Athletic 2
With Worthing needing a win to clinch the title, Josh Simmonds and Tommy Sanctuary looked secure at the centre of the Predators defence.
The opening goal came as a corner was deflected in by a defender.
A desperate goal-line clearance by Alex Burford kept Worthing from increasing their lead. Predators kept pressing, with Harvey Clarke and Jake Evans driving them forward, but it was to no avail.
With time running out, Worthing made the game safe to make sure of the title.
