Chichester City Ladies Reserves showed their confidence a week after going top of the league with a comprehensive 7-0 beating of Dorking.

From the off Dorking were on the back foot, and after two minutes Amy Bailey struck a shot into the bottom corner which the Dorking keeper thought was going wide.

Chichester were passing the ball around well in midfield and the combination down the left of Hannah Chalk and Lucy Stanbridge was causing problems.

Good defending and last-ditch tackles kept City at bay for a time but Sian Payne made it 2-0 on half-hour when the ball fell to her on the edge of the box and she hit a sweet volley which looped over the keeper.

A great ball from Payne over the top saw Lauren Ellis go through and beat the onrushing keeper for 3-0 and Ellis got her second just before half-time with a weak effort that somehow ended up going in. Chichester went in at half-time 4-0 up.

Naomi Parfoot came on for her debut and Amber Beaven replaced Lucy Stanbridge.

Beaven was the bright spark and her pace was too much for the Dorking full-back down the left.

Ellis was replaced by Ellie Thorne, who made an instant impact to score her first for the club as she controlled the ball her first touch and scored with her second to make it 5-0 on 60 minutes.

Beaven’s threat paid off as she left the full-back behind drove into the box and found the bottom corner for 6-0. Annie Richardson and Stacy Baker at the heart of the defence had little to do but commanded things well.

Gemma Halford had a couple of opportunities to get on the scoresheet from corners but couldn’t score. Jemma Cottam-Verbruggen and Jodie Greenway in midfield were playing with confidence and Greenway got the final goal from 40 yards.
