A DOUBLE from Gary Holmes inspired well-organised Newhaven to a crucial 4-1 win at Bosham in their Sussex League division-three title bid.
For their part, Bosham took confidence from encouraging shows from the likes of Jack Hardman and Jordan Windsor.
The Dockers started to take control with Tyler Goatcher and Holmes looking dangerous and the pace of Lee Robinson a threat.
Bosham boss Tony Hancock needed players to step up to the plate and Josh Clayton, Hardman and Windsor certainly did that.
The Yellows got their noses in front through Holmes’ header. The second half got off to the worst start for the Reds as Newhaven doubled the lead through Holmes.
Goatcher got his name on the scoresheet just after the hour from nearly 30 yards.
Kieran Hartley replied at the other end to the delight of the home support. But the last word went to the excellent Robinson who burst through for the fourth.
BOSHAM: Hasted, Brett, Hancock, Clayton, Windsor, Dowden, Giambelardini, Joe Hancock, Hartley, Grant, Hardman. Subs: Dean, Fewell, Randall.
