Felpham Colts enjoyed a fabulous turnout and fantastic weather for their annual kids’ tournament.

It was their 17th annual event and saw the Felpham Community College playing fields transformed into a hive of activity.

With 191 teams across 13 age groups over 16 pitches, this proved to be the biggest and most successful Felpham tournament yet.

There were teams from London, Surrey and all across Sussex, and the football was fast, furious and fun, while being competitive and full of quality.

The under-fives and sixes kicked off the weekend in fine spirit and the weekend was brought to a close as the under-18s battled it out in glorious sunshine.

With new FA guidelines being introduced for the first time, including retreat lines for the younger age groups and blue cards (sin bins) for the older age groups, the tournament was able to successfully showcase the way football is beginning to change at youth levels.

And with Felpham Colts now using the new 3G pitches at Arun Leisure Centre, as well as the school playing fields, it meant pristine playing conditions for all age groups, allowing for some superb football.

With the hard work of all the Colts volunteers in the score tent, and the barbecue and refreshment centre, it was a wonderful advert for youth football, but for Felpham Colts FC and their ability to bring the community together to create and pull off a fantastic festival.

Well done to all players, officials, helpers and supporters – now you can go off and enjoy the World Cup.
