Midhurst began in confident mood at home to Mile Oak in their Sussex League division-two clash and took the lead after 12 minutes - but ended up losing 3-1.

Lewis Hamilton was well-placed to receive a Liam Dreckman pass and his shot went in through the legs of visiting keeper Aaron Syng, to the amusement of the home fans.

The rest of the half was fairly even but the hosts held their lead until the interval.

Midhurst defender Sean Dummer had been forced off before the break through injury and as the second half wore on, Mile Oak grew in confidence.

One free-kick was well-saved by Midhurst keeper Matt Evans but another saw Kieron Howard fire home Oak’s equaliser.

This lifted the visitors and they went on to win it with another two goals in the latter stages.

Midhurst’s long - and successful - season comes to an end at Oakwood this evening (May 2, 7.45pm).

MIDHURST: Evans, White, Holloway, Farr, Pattison, Hamilton, Norgate, Dummer, Dreckman, Renshaw.

Midhurst seconds were beaten 7-0 by Lancing in the Reserve Section Cup.
