City started the quicker of the sides with Josh Clack having a free-kick and a couple of shots within the first five minutes, but the Anvils replied with James Day testing keeper Charlie Searle with a free-kick, while Blair Cooney, Josh Brown and Kerran Boylan caused Chi problems.

On 20 minutes Max Thoms’ corner was met by Clack’s header but Anvils keeper Martin Hopkins was equal to the task.

But Thoms was not to be denied and on 26 minutes he found space to rifle home the opener.

The Anvils fought back with Boylan striking the post and Michael Belli firing just wide.

A blow for the Anvils came just before half-time with Kieran Greig having to be replaced by Ben Brooker as half-time was reached.

Thoms and Clack for City tested keeper Hopkins, but the Anvils struck next with Sullivan getting free down the left and finding Boylan, who slipped his marker and drove in the deserved equaliser.

This gave the Anvils heart and on the hour a Brooker header could only find Searle’s arms in the Chi goal.

For City a Dan Watts cross was thumped wide by Ifeanyi Owuachu, then Scott Jones’ shot hit the woodwork and was hacked clear.

On 72 minutes, Cooneys short pass from keeper Hopkins was intercepted by City sub Jake Gale who was left with the simple task of rolling the ball home.

The Anvils had to raise their game again, and with the clock entering added-on time, Sullivan crossed for Marc Pelling to head in the equaliser.
