Pagham dispatch YMCA in another thriller

Scott Murfin celebrates his goal against Horsham YMCA

Scott Murfin celebrates his goal against Horsham YMCA

PAGHAM and YMCA put on another goal-fest as the fourth meeting between these sides this season saw the Lions prevail 4-2 on Saturday.

Already there had been 13 goals in three games in the previous contests, and it after just four minutes when Pagham took the lead in the Sussed League division one clash through James Ford’s superb strike.

Pagham further increased their lead three minutes later with a rare header from Scott Murfin rocketing into the net.

A corner swung in eluded Pagham’s James Binfield, and Tarrant was on hand to bundle the ball home. The visitors’ celebrations were dampened a minute later as Murfin scored his second and Pagham’s third of the game.

Five minutes after the break, Horsham scored their second as Elliot Romain made up for his first-half miss.

Pagham’s Ryan Cox then scored his first of the season, on 78 minutes, as he saw Simon Lockwood off his line, and executed a sublime chip-shot.

PAGHAM: Binfield, Hawker, Ford, Pearce, Booker, Bradshaw, Briggs, Thoms, Temple, S.Murfin, Cox. Subs: Neighbour, N.Murfin, Killner, Harper, Hallett.
