Pompey Ladies face a testing trip to Aston Villa on Sunday.
But Vanessa Raynbird’s side travel to the midlands knowing they have what it takes to turn over the Villans.
The Blues delivered arguably their best performance of their Premier League national division campaign against the outfit in August.
A 3-0 home win showed the side have what it takes to mix it with the big guns in the league.
Villa’s form since that game tells how good a victory that was for Pompey, as they now sit third in the table.
But Raynbird has every faith in her team to grab a result against the side.
Raynbird said: ‘It’ll be tough but we beat them at home.
‘I don’t think they’ve lost a game since, so it will be a test. We took our chances and they didn’t.
‘It was a very even game but it will have to be the same – we take chances when they come our way.
‘It’s bound to be hard at their place but I think it will be a half-decent pitch, so that will suit us.
‘They have two really big centre-backs, so they are going to be a threat from set-pieces.
‘It was the best result we’ve had in this league last time around.
‘It’s a big ask but we’ve done it once and there’s no reason why we can’t do it again against them.’
Pompey have a number of injury concerns going into the game.
Keeper Sadie Blakely is a doubt after she was involved in a collision with a Barnet player in the 2-2 draw last month. Jemma Tewkesbury (ankle) and Gemma Hillier (ankle) are also battling to be fit.
Raynbird said: ‘We have a few injuries but we didn’t have our strongest team last time we played. We can deal with it.
‘Hopefully we can counter attack well enough to get some goals. That’s what we’re good at.
‘Hopefully the game will be on. The forecast is okay, so hopefully there won’t be too much frost.’
Meanwhile, Pompey have been boosted by the news midfielder Lucy Quinn is set to return to the club after failing to settle after moving to America.
