Pompey’s clash at Scunthorpe postponed

There will be no action this weekend at Glanford Park

There will be no action this weekend at Glanford Park

Pompey’s League One match at Scunthorpe tomorrow has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.

A decision was taken for the game not to go ahead after a 9.30am pitch inspection this morning at Glanford Park.

Scunthorpe had called on fans to help them clear the recent snowfall to try to get the game on, while the Iron had also covered the playing surface during the week.

But more freezing temperatures overnight left Scunthorpe officials with no choice but to postpone the match early, saving Pompey a wasted long trip up north.

It is the second game in succession that the Blues have had a game called off after last weekend’s clash with Notts County was wiped out because of a waterlogged pitch at Fratton Park.
