A waste of a chance to grab three points to speed progress up the table, according to Bondz N’Gala.
Nonetheless, Pompey’s central defender felt Saturday’s goalless draw with Cheltenham represented a fair result.
The Blues failed to build on the impressive point at league leaders Chesterfield earlier in the week upon their return to Fratton Park.
Instead, a bumper crowd of 17,254 fans had to make do witnessing an insipid performance which lacked penalty box action and, subsequently, goals.
The Robins started – and ended – the day two points ahead of Richie Barker’s side, yet N’Gala believed it was an opportunity to pick up a victory.
And in the end it was a day of mixed emotions.
He said: ‘I think we should be beating teams in and around us like Cheltenham and it’s very important we do so.
‘Right now, though, we have to move on to tomorrow and get a win against Burton.
‘I thought the result was fair considering the chances at both ends, it was about right.
‘We didn’t create enough and defended well as a team, while Cheltenham didn’t really have many chances.
‘It was a game with not many chances to be honest.
‘But I get paid to keep clean sheets and hopefully defensively we can keep building on that side of it.
‘Against Chesterfield it was a very impressive performance.
‘We had chances and I believe should have won.
‘A point was a great bonus and the game was no different to what we did in training, so it was pretty amazing it worked out.
‘But no side deserved any more than that on Saturday.’
