Ricky Holmes has completed a permanent switch to Northampton.
The Pompey winger has shone during the first month of a Sixfields loan spell, prompting moves to keep him.
The Blues were open to the idea and cancelled the remaining five months of his existing contract to pave the way.
Now Holmes has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Cobblers to seal his Fratton Park exit.
The 27-year-old was crowned The News/Sports Mail player of the season last term, as voted by supporters.
Yet he fell out of favour with Andy Awford following the FA Cup defeat at Aldershot in November.
A loan spell to Northampton was agreed earlier this month, where he has impressed in four matches.
Holmes made 62 appearances for the Blues, scoring twice.
