Ricky Holmes has called on Pompey to ensure Danny Hollands remains at Fratton Park permanently.

The on-loan midfielder has proven to be a revelation since being brought in by former boss Richie Barker on the day he departed the Blues.

Hollands has yet to finish on a losing Pompey side, while his Plymouth hat-trick took his tally to five goals in seven matches since arriving from Charlton.

Out of contract this summer, the former Bournemouth man is this week meeting Andy Awford for talks over his future, with both parties keen for an agreement.

As ever, finances will dictate, but Pompey’s player of the season is eager for Hollands to be at the club next season and beyond.

Holmes said: ‘Hopefully we can pin down Danny Hollands because he has been pivotal.

‘You can say Andy Awford deservedly got the job, but Danny has come in and hasn’t lost a game with us, scoring goals.

‘We call him the Iron Man because he just runs through brick walls and gives everything, he’s brilliant for us.

‘It’s phenomenal and I am sure the club are working hard to get him snapped up and, hopefully, that will happen over the coming weeks.

‘He’s a local boy so I can’t see why he wouldn’t stay. He has got on really well with the lads and we will just wait and see.’

Awford is spending the next three days holding talks with all Pompey’s players over their futures as he seeks to rebuild the squad which finished 13th in League Two.

As it stands, there are 16 out of contract, with the likes of Yassin Moutaouakil and Thery Racon certain to leave Fratton Park, while the loan deals of Michael Drennan and Daniel Alfei have expired.
