Pompey have confirmed the loan signing of exciting West Bromwich Albion duo George Thorne and Joe Mattock.
Attacking midfielder Thorne and Mattock – a left-back – have joined until January 2, 2012.
Both players are in contention to make their Blues debuts against Leicester City at Fratton Park tomorrow.
Their signings have been completed just ahead of today’s emergency loan transfer deadline which closes at 5pm.
Eighteen-year-old Thorne made his Baggies debut in November 2009, aged just 16.
The England under-19 international has gone on to make five first-team appearances for the Premier League side.
Mattock, 21, joined West Brom from Leicester in August 2009 in a £1.2m deal.
He has made two appearances for West Brom this season – both in the Carling Cup.
After signing on the dotted line for Pompey, Mattock said: ‘I’m just hoping to get a few games under my belt and help Pompey to win some games.
‘I’ve heard the fans are really good so I’m looking forward to getting out on the pitch and playing in front of them.’
Meanwhile, Abdul Razak has returned to Manchester City following a brief loan stint at Fratton Park.
The talented youngster made three appearances for the Blues, with two coming as a substitute.
