Fun run lives up to its name as Chichester surge ahead

Another strong show of strength in depth maintained Chichester's top spot in the second of the West Sussex Fun Run League fixtures of the season.

Lining up against a field of more than 400 runners in the Worthing Lido four-mile seafront race, the 33-strong Chichester squad had one of their best-ever days with seven finishers in the top 21.

Veteran track specialists Andy Nicholson (below) and Gary Wright led the club home in fifth and sixth places respectively in times of 22.14 and 22.19 for the fast course.

Jon Leonard in 11th was closely followed by another veteran, Kevin

McGreal, in 13th with Nick Casburn 17th, Lee Neumann 19th, another

veteran and the club's first over-50, Rob Wiggins, in a superb 21st.

All seven scored the maximum ten elite points, as did Katy Bird, who was in 71st place overall and in the top-ten female finishers.
